Our annual Brendan Murphy Memorial Communion Mass and Brunch is always a special event and a favorite for so many because of the generosity of our supporters and friends in the Yonkers community. Thank you for your support and Sláinte!
Guest Speaker: Tania Tetlow, President of Fordham University
This year’s guest speaker made the event even more special. We were honored to hear from Tania Tetlow, President of Fordham University.
She is the first layperson, and the first woman, to hold the office at Fordham. President Tetlow was the 17th president of Loyola University New Orleans. Prior to joining Loyola, President Tetlow served as senior vice president and chief of staff as well as the Felder-Fayard Professor of Law at Tulane University.
President Tetlow graduated cum laude from Tulane University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in American studies and is a magna cum laude graduate of Harvard Law School, where she earned a Juris Doctor degree and was a Harry S. Truman Fellow. A Catholic who was born in New York and grew up in New Orleans, President Tetlow has deep family ties to the Jesuits and to Fordham, where her parents met as graduate students in the late 1960s.
James McGinty Hibernian of the Year: Christopher Ryan
It was a privilege to honor our Brother Christopher Ryan. Chris serves as our Marshal and actively demonstrates our motto and oath through his dedication to public service, his division brothers and his community.
A life member and former assistant fire chief of Dobbs Ferry Fire Dept, Chris has been a licensed funeral director at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home for over 21 years. He has been married to his wife Lisa for 20 years, and they have a daughter Makenna Ann.
Special Thanks
Bishop James Massa, Fr. Luke M. Sweeney, Fr. Christopher Keenan, all the Seminarians and staff at St. Joseph's Seminary, Dunwoodie, Westchester County Legislators David Tubiolo and James Nolan, Vice Counsel, Consulate General of Ireland in New York Deniz Ozturk, Kevin Fitzgerald, Lauren Tuffy for her beautiful voice, and our sisters at LAOH, Yonkers, Division 19.
